Has anyone ever stayed at Cozy Cabins?

I%26#39;m looking for any feedback on Cozy Cabins? Is it a good place to stay?

Also looking for suggestions on hiking. Would Arethusa falls be better than the Flume?

Can%26#39;t tell you about Cozy Cabins first-hand, but you might also look at Riverview Motel. If you have a 4 or more people and are staying a couple nights or more, you might want to rent a home or condo. try http://www.vrbo.com. There are lots of places and the prices are very reasonable due to a glut of private rentals. (Said sadly as one of those owners!)

The Flume is not really a ';hike';. It%26#39;s a walk through a very spectacular gorge. Arethusa Falls is beautiful, but you%26#39;ll drive past many equally wonderful places much closer to Lincoln. Grab and AMC book on day hikes in the White Mountains for good close-to-home trails. There are quite a few good hikes in Franconia Notch and along the Kancamangus Highway (aka Rt. 112 between Lincoln and conway.)

I stayed at Cozy Cabins and it was the worst holiday experience of my life.

I stayed with my mom over the Memorial Day weekend (2007) arriving on Thursday and planning to check on Monday. I was expecting a quiet location and found the cabins all located within 100 yards of a very busy main road. The view from the cabins is not of a ';quiet brook';, but of this main road and the run down houses on the side road that the cabins are on. Motorbikes drive down the side road late into the night (the people on the motorbikes are the family that owns the cottages).

On Sunday, after three hard days of hiking, we returned to the cabin, hoping to relax. However, we found that the proprietors had decided that the Memorial Day long weekend was a good time to remove some full sized trees right next to our cabin (by which i mean, within 2 feet of our cabin). After a half hour of listening to a backhoe and tractor rattle our cabin, I stepped outside and asked the owners ';May I ask how long this will continue?'; to which I got a blank stare as a response. I proceeded ';See, we were hoping to relax on our vacation, and if you insist on continuing, we%26#39;d rather leave now';. Then they said they would stop, and they did - 10 minutes later. Three hours later, they continued. This time my mom approached them. This brought on a loud fight with the owners saying that they would gladly have us removed from the premises since we%26#39;d done nothing but complain our entire visit (this was the only matter we approached them about). At that I closed the door of the cabin and promptly packed up and took our leave. We asked for our 4th night stay refunded, since we were leaving, but we were charged nonetheless (despite their advertised ';4th night free in May and June';).

It was a horrible, horrible stay, and I advise you to cancel any reservation you may have made. I hope you find somewhere more pleasant to stay.

Please stay somewhere else so that you can enjoy your time in the White Mountains. The owners are confrontational and looking for trouble. My family and I just came home from Cozy Cabins last week and would never stay there again. The son Ed Peterson watched us everytime we went in and out of our cabin with our 3 children. My Dad dropped off tylenol for my infant son and was told that he had 5 minutes to leave or the Lincoln Police Department would be called and then all of us would be removed without a refund. It was so bad that when we came home one night at midnight the son Ed was sitting in the driveway with arms folded watching us. He was also outisde our cabin door at 9am on Sunday when we were trying to leave and pack up the car. He watched the clock hoping we would be there past 10:00 am so that he could charge our credit card again.

I just found this post on this forum and thought it only fair to defend myself as the owner of this establishment.Cozy Cabins states clearly in all reservation confirmations, and most advertising as well as handing out a set of rules to every customer. No Visitors. When someone does not adhere to the rules they are nicely and gently reminded to please follow the rules. And it was only after you were reminded of the No Visitor policy and a lengthy time had passed that you were asked to have your company leave within 5 minutes. Our rules also ask our customers, Please Do Not, Park on the lawns. Another example of your total disreguard of the rules.Your visitors chose to park on the lawn and wouldn%26#39;t even move the car off the grass when asked politley. The request was totally ignored. We put a lot of time and money into trying to keep the grounds clean of litter and looking neat. We treat all our customers with courtesy and respect All we ask is for you to be courteous and respectful in return. And whenever there are cars coming in late at night they are observed, this is true, as we have dealt with customers bringing in additional guest after 10PM when the office closes. We are certainly not the only business such as ours in this location who do no allow visitors. Our rules are for all of our guest and most people don%26#39;t have a problem following them because the rules are simple and they are put in place to not only protect us and our property but our guests as well.

I have no knowledge about the cabins. As for hikes, the flume is a great place and I have visited a number of times. You have to pay to enter but is absolutely worth it. Aruthusa Falls is considered a moderate hike but I found it fairly difficult, at least on the way up but again worth the walk. The falls intensity definitely depends on season and weather. Not much water on the falls when it has been dry. You don%26#39;t say when you are visiting which can make a difference with recommendations.
