Things to Do in Northern NH in March with Little Ones

I was thinking of visiting northern NH for the weekend of the Maple Weekend (28th-29th). We have a 2-year old and a 4-year old and was wondering what else can we do while up there. It seems like all of the tubing parks have a minimum age of 5 years old so that doesn%26#39;t seem like an option. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I think we would be staying somewhere around Jefferson.

Thank you

Hello Pligrim,

Tough time of year for many things in Norhtern NH with little ones, the theme parks - StoryLand, Santa%26#39;s Village and Six Gun City are all still closed. The snowmobile trails offical close the 15th unless we get some big snow this W/E, not in the forcast. We are about to start into ';mud season,'; so some things are just not available, one of those in between season%26#39;s.

We have 3 sugar house%26#39;s within a short drive of us here, always a cool expeirnece for young ones, not so sure the 2yr old will grasp it, but the 4yr old should get some of it. The Fairbanks museum is in St J., VT. Snow shoing if you can carry the 2yr old or XC skiing is an option as well.

We also do dog sledding, but that could be out of the question if the trails get beat up with warm weather.

Here%26#39;s a cool idea - Littleton, NH is home to the ';World%26#39;s Longest Candy Counter'; @ Chutters.com (more details) Candy Store. just try to tell me the little ones and slightly bigger ones would not find that cool?

Thanks Tazman - We saw that candy counter on Chronicle not too long ago and said we would make a point of visiting next time we were up there. Thanks for the reminder.

Why not come to southwest NH instead? Stonewall Farm in Keene has a sap gathering contest by horsedrawn wagon that the little ones will love, as well as petting and seeing all the animals. The Mariposa Museum in Peterborough is great for kids. Lots of sugar houses in the area to visit also. Plus you wouldn%26#39;t have as long a drive.

Thank you for that information. We have a favorite cabin that we like to stay in up in Northern NH, but that sounds like fun. Thanks again. We could probably do a day trip for that.

We have a couple maple producers up here that we have made arrangements with for our guests. I could provide if you wanted. We are attempting to still uuse some of whats left of the trails for dog sledding as well - Just let me know.
