The Port Inn vs Hilton Garden Inn

We are planning to spend a few days in Portsmouth with our two young children (4yrs and %26lt;1yr) in June. We are trying to decide betwen the Port Inn and the Hilton Garden Inn. The cost is significantly more for the Hilton. Is it worth it to be in the center of town, or doesn%26#39;t it matter enough to spend the money? Opinions?

The Port Inn vs Hilton Garden Inn

The Hilton Garden Inn is in a better location for walking and The Port Inn is right off the highway. You would need a car to reach downtown from The Port Inn and is in a better location for day trips. If, the hotel rates were equal, I would choice the Hilton Garden Inn. The Sheraton is also located downtown, have you checked the rates for the Sheraton?

Are you planning to having a car and doing a lot of road trips (New Hamphire%26#39;s Children%26#39;s Museum, York Beach, York%26#39;s Wild Animal Kingdom, Ogunquit, Ft McClary State Park or Odiorne State Park)? If, %26#39;yes'; the Port Inn would be fine. But if you plan on ONLY staying in Downtown Portsmouth, and not using a car, visiting Prescott Park, Strawberry Banke, eating and shopping downtown, all are within walking distance from the Hilton, then I would choice the Hilton Garden Inn.
