My husband %26amp; I are going to Jackson in a couple of weeks with our 4 month old daughter for our first family vacation.
We would like to do some short walks and wondered if any of the trails would be stroller friendly? Or will I have to use the baby carrier all the time?
Thanks for any information.
Walking with 4 month old baby
You will need both. The central village area Main St-RT 16-Village Rd form a loop and there is a sidewalk. Once you leave Main St it%26#39;s uphill with very few sidewalks and dirt shoulders. If you drive north from the village about 4 and half mi on your left is Dana Place. There is a short walk along the Ellis River somewhat level but not for strollers as it is a dirt path. There are areas outside of Jackson that you can drive to so if that%26#39;s of interest, let us know.

Yes we plan to drive to places around Jackson and probably go to Franconia Notch for a day as we are in Jackson for a week so any information for further afield would be most helpful too.
Most of the trails will not be stroller friendly. It is not something that I have paid much attention to but I am thinking that the path to Diana%26#39;s Bath may be stroller friendly (although it is a little early to go swimming there). Also, I believe the Flume gorge will accommodate strollers but you should certainly check first if that is an issue. So, if you expect to walk off road, the carrier is your best bet. To paraphrase Neil Diamond- she ain%26#39;t heavy, she%26#39;s my kid!!
I think the Lincoln Woods trail, five miles or so from Lincoln on the Kancamangus Highway, may be stroller friendly. It%26#39;s an old logging road, very flat. I%26#39;ve walked it numerous times, but never with an eye for a stroller. Nice canopy of trees if the weather is iffy, next to the Pemi River.
Also the Ammonoosuc Lake trail loop behind the AMC Highland Center is nice short hike with a carrier. I%26#39;ve done that.
Given the time of year you might want to look into some bug netting as well.
Enjoy.
