We%26#39;d like to visit for a long weekend in June. There are so many lakes! Can anyone recommend a place to stay that%26#39;s on the water and rents kayaks? We%26#39;d be flying in to Manchester. We%26#39;d consider a B%26amp; B as well.
Best lake for kayaking?
I am not an expert on the Lakes Region --but,the movie On Golden Pond was filmed at Squam Lake. That looked nice!!!
Best lake for kayaking?
Squam or Newfound Lake. Newfound is one of the cleanest in the US. We have so many in this area. I hate SNAKES so I only go where my chances of seeing one are about ZERO.
If you don%26#39;t get a great response here, you might try calling a store called Eastern Mountain Sports. ems.com they have several stores in the state and they%26#39;re generally staffed by knowledgeable folks who can speak from personal experience. They may also be the best place to rent those kayaks.

Lake Umbagog and while your here you can enjoy the NEWEST wildlife refuge. Placed into refuge status just last summer.
Wildlife = Moose, eagles, osprey, loons etc...
If you a bit more expreienced you can follow the Androscoggin River out as Lake Umbabgog is the head waters. Some class two water and the also class three, but not enough to scare the ---- out of you either.
We are one of two B%26amp;B%26#39;s in the genral area. Depending on when your actually here you could hit one of several summer events as well. Northern NH is a must see if you%26#39;ve never been up here before.

Thanks to all for your input. I think we%26#39;d like the Squam Lake area since we have only a few days and it seems there%26#39;d be stuff to do at night, you know, touristy things. I will contact Eastern Mountain Sports.Lake Umbagog sounds beautiful!
While in the Squam Lake area, please visit the NH Science Center off Rte 113 in Holderness. Also view the movie On Golden Pond, as it really was filmed here. Also a great hike off Rte. 113 in Holderness is West Rattlesnake. It is not to be missed. It overlooks Squam.. We have wonderful restaurants in Meredith. George%26#39;s Diner for breakfast. Remember, we have motorcycle week here which ends on Father%26#39;s Day. There will be No peace and quiet anywhere that week which is the Friday before,June 12 to Father%26#39;s Day on June 21.
The science center is a great suggestion, we have taken our kids there several times.
Sorry, but bikers are a big part of NH and who can afford a $20K MC these days, to us in the tourist industry we look forward to MC%26#39;s being on the roads, yes there loader than the car, but sign of summer in NH for sure. Just like snomobiler%26#39;s, ATV%26#39;ers, hunters and leaf peepers - All spending their hard earned money visiting our beautiful state!
In fact, some of us way up here in the North Country have been working on a new MC event for the past 4 years or so in Berlin, NH. We affectionaly call it TIM - Thinder In the Mountains. I am inserting some details below:
The City of Berlin NH and surrounding communities will be hosting and even expanding the 3rd Thunder In Mountains MC event the event this year, we are going to 2 full days of activities. And will hopefully be able to provide a location for a bikers ball on Friday evening as well @ a designated local establishment.
July 18th %26amp; 19th
This event has been recognized two years in a row as one of NH%26#39;s best new events, by NH magazine.
Hourly raffles, vendors, dyno and live bands and a DJ.
Sat - Poker Run through the four corners of Coos County (some of the best views in all of NH) with great prizes again this year - Last year%26#39;s top prize was a $1k custom paint job. Fireworks cap off Sat evening at the Northern Forest heritage Park w/food and adult beverages and live music.
Sun - Bike show and Rodeo w/Prizes We are bringing back the Vertical Outlaws for a top notch performance in stunt riding, you have got to see these guys perform at least once!

Southwest NH offers lots of options, Nubanusit Lake, Dublin Lake, Spofford Lake. Summers Backcountry Sports in Keene can set you up with everything you need. Lots of B and Bs and nice restaurants in the area as well and no biker convention, although it is fun to watch them ride through.
Eastern Mountain Sports(EMS) in Lincoln can help you out with ideas on the Pemi River. A great resource.
