rainy day family activities in July
Thanks for those ideas. I didn%26#39;t realize Clarks was rain or shine.
The candy is inside- bears outside
Really cool place over in Bethel, ME fits your need for rainly day activity and the kids perfectly. The www.bigadventure.com both indoor and outdoor activities, but laser tag and rock wall climbing gives them something to do inside thats fun and dry.
I have sent our guest down there on occassion and never had a complaint on return.
Another alternative os to go white water rafting, your going to get wet anyway - We work real close with www.northwoodsrafting.com in Milan, NH all summer. Heather and Lincoln with the help of their staff do a great job!
Moose watching is another option...usually a van-ride during dusk to many of the spots where the moose hang out...Littleton%26#39;s Main Street is a pretty good option to, with the Jax Movie Theater, Chutters (world record for longest candy counter and a dozen or so flavors of fudge), Village Book store with a great kids section - right next door is the League of NH Craftsman showroom with exquisite selection of fine-crafted items. Alakayi is a kick-back to the 1970%26#39;s head-shop for a walk down retro-memory lane.
Several nice restaurants including the Littleton Diner or Miller%26#39;s Fare Cafe which has a deck right over the Ammonoosuc River. Spanning the Ammonoosuc is a beautiful covered bridge. Several museums in the area - the N.E. Ski Museum, Robert Frost House, and the Fairbanks Museum.
Depending on the interests of the kids (and adults), another possibility is the Mount Washington Observatory Museum...it%26#39;s on the north end of the North Conway business district....opposite the Eastern Slope Inn.
Some interesting displays regarding the severity of the weather on top of the mountain, the history of the observatory and the folks who staff it, and, most days, a chance to talk via interactive television with one of the observers on top of the mountain. Most, if not all, of the staff are also former observatory staff members who have actually spent time on top of ';the rockpile';. And they just love to share the stories about their experiences.
Great way to kill an hour or so on a rainy day....admission varies from ';free'; to a nominal fee in our experiences.
2 cents. Clarks is not a great rainy day activity. It is mostly outside. If it is a light drizzle, it should be fine but other than that, it won%26#39;t be fun.
Ham ice areana in North Conway.
sorry forgot to post the link
www.hamarena.com I%26#39;m not sure if they will still have skating at that time of year. They do have other activities.
Oh great idea. Waterville valley has an indoor ice arena as well, also some cute stores that are sheltered in the town center.
Check out the website www.waterville.com/info/summer/shopping.asp
Its about 20 minutes south and another 20 minutes East of Lincoln
