Best Luxury Hotel in White Mountains?

I%26#39;m getting married soon and I%26#39;d like to get my parents a weekend getaway to the White Mountains. They honeymooned there and I thought it would be sweet to give tham a reason to go back!

Any suggestions on reputable, luxury hotels? My parents aren%26#39;t into bed %26amp; breakfasts so I%26#39;m trying to determine which is the best larger scale resort.

Thanks!

There is the Balsams in Dixville Notch or the Mountain View Grand Hotel in Whitefield

The Balsams would be the best that I know of. But I don%26#39;t really think of the White Mtns as a place for luxury resort vacationing. Luxury resorts are destinations in themselves. When you have a region like the White Mtns, you just need a nice place to use as a base for touring.

And there are plenty of places to stay in the White Mtns that have romantic charm.

Certainly the Balsams is classic as well as the MW Hotel. But some other suggestions are Wentworth Inn or Nestlenook in Jackson. Bigger than b and b but smaller than the grand hotels.

Also, take a look at Wentworth by the sea near Portsmouth. Not in the mountains but looks quite nice

I like the Inn at Thorn Hill. Upscale and quaint. Get a room in the inn, not the carriage house.

Mt. Washington Hotel by far is the best of the Grand Hotels - right at the base of Mt. Washington with the summit as a backdrop. Great dining, drop dead scenery and close to many attractions...The Balsams is nice as well, but pretty isolated up in the Dixville Notch and Mountain View Grand is nice too, but doesn%26#39;t have the views that the Mt. Washington does.
