looking for a summer house- need a base to peruse the state.

Looking for the iconic NE village (no masses of condos and overdevelopment) with good proximity to golf, fly fishing water and snow activities........am planning on spending a month split between Vt. and NH. to drive around

If I fly in to Manchester, what airlines service there? We are in Fl.

As far as towns - would love some input on:

Keene

Walpole

Fitzwilliam

Hanover

Littleton

Wolfsboro

Portsmouth

Durham

College towns are nice, too....

Golf, fly fishing and snow activities don%26#39;t often happen in the same month, anywhere in NH or VT.

Hanover and Jackson are pretty iconic. There are a number of small towns in the Monadnock region around Sunapee that probably fit the bill as well. And depending on when you arrive there could still be skiing on Tuckerman%26#39;s Ravine. But its a long walk.

In Vt, other towns are Stowe, Weston, Manchester, Peru and Jamaica.

The main airline into Manchester is Southwest

We would use the place through-out the summer, but the ski/winter sports stuff would obviously be for holidays or spring break....

Hadn%26#39;t had Jackson or Weston or Peru (vt) on my radar, and will definitely add them.

Hanover and Woodstock Vt. sound perfect.....but you don%26#39;t know until you get there. I am beginning t think that the north country won%26#39;t be as much to our liking as south and central.....seems awful isolated and the water must be very cold!

thanks

Cold water keeps the snakes away. I am all for that.

As a point of clarification that may help with your replies -- are you looking for a place to purchase, and want advise of the areas to consider?

Are you referring to south and central VT/NH over the ';north country'; of VT/NH or are you speaking of the USA? Need to clarify. But yes, the water will be cold. But that is what is so refreshing...
